oh how long it has been

I can’t believe that it has been so long since I last posted to my blog. There are a decent amount of things to post about, but most of them are boring details to my computer science adventures (yes, they are adventures to a nerd).

I have been spending on average 10-12 hours per weekday in the lab/class and similar hours on most weekend days. The good news is that I have been making plenty of friends, and that I have been acting as a quasi teaching assistant for 2 (and sometimes 3) of my classes. I’m getting a lot of work accomplished for my classes despite the fact that Riverview web stuff (freelance work = 0) is not getting any further.

While I am looking forward to being done with school, I’m actually enjoying right where I’m at.

getting in the habit

School is starting to get me back into a regular routine again, which I really like.  It would be nice if I could get myself out of bed earlier though.  I’ve been trying to adjust my sleep schedule, but it sure is tough after the summer of waking up at random times.

My classes seem like they’re going to be interesting enough.  I have 2 professors who seem pretty awesome (EC201 & CSE491), and 2 that seem just okay (I’ll keep these guys anonymous).  It has been a little tough this week with having something scheduled for almost my whole day.  I haven’t been able to get as many things as I’ve wanted to.  Which reminds me, I still need to get my books for microecon…

getting in-fat

Yes, it is a spelling mistake, it’s supposed to be un-fat (My BMI is 28.7), but I messed it up when I was doing a Facebook status update and I thought it was mildly entertaining.

Regardless, having realized there is too much going on in my mid section, a little bit too much of the handles for lovin’, and skipping the tmi about other locations has promted me to begin anew in the weight loss game.  This time I have a few new strategies:

  1. Noel’s 100 push-ups in 6 weeks “Challenge”
  2. “Vague” Calorie counting (I’ve tried this before, but I’m gonna stick to it and not be super anal)
  3. HIIT training 3 days a week (more details…)
  4. Light jogging/walking 2 days a week

I’m not sure what my end goal should be (although it seems like 140-150 would be good for my height), and I’ve set a short term goal of 6 lbs in 4 weeks.

one crazy week

I thought a few weeks ago that this upcoming week was going to be crazy.  Yesterday, all day, we moved stuff from the old Riverview auditorium to the new one.  My list grew substantially.

I have a bazillion things to do at Riv, my kitchen is still in my living room, and we’re like out of groceries.

It might not be so bad.  Then again, it might.

too much, and not enough

It has been 4 weeks and 6 days since my semester ended.  I have 11 weeks and 4 days until my next semester starts.

Since my last semester ended I have:

  • Spent 2.5+ weeks working on the tech install in the new Riv auditorium
  • Spent 1 week finishing up work projects
  • Visited my sister in Chicago for 3 days
  • Run sound for 3 weddings
  • Worked on finishing my kitchen for 2 days (still in progress)

I feel like I’ve been using my time pretty well, and I have been getting a lot of things done that I had put off during the semester.  I’m getting really excited about the new auditorium being finished.  It will be really nice to finally have all that work done and be able to enjoy the new space (and new technology).

I have a bunch of pictures that I want to share, but Kristie has the camera.  I guess you’ll have to wait.
