fun and food
Kristie’s old roommate Mara came to visit this weekend. We hadn’t seen her since around Christmas time, so we were very excited to see her again. She first flew in and was picked up by her friend Diane that lives in Ann Arbor. So Saturday afternoon Kristie and I went to pick Mara up from Ann Arbor. We decided beforehand that we would eat lunch with her and Diane. It was kinda weird because they wouldn’t give us concrete directions to get anywhere in the city until we were close by.
Anyway, we ended up going to a sushi place there and ate some great sushi. I ordered this one roll called “yum yum”, and the name definitely fit. It had like crab, tuna, salmon, egg, and was done tempura style. I’m so glad that my sister introduced me to the world of good sushi. I never thought I would like raw fish….
Anyway, we brought Mara back home and went to the Saturday nite at Riverview. Mara stayed the night and we took her back the next afternoon/evening. When we got in Ann Arbor again, we went to this Indian restaurant called Raja Rani. The food was so good. I don’t think that I’ve ever eaten real Indian food before, and I must say that it was a very pleasant experience. Then to add to the India experience, we went and saw The Namesake. I’m not going to ruin the plot or anything, but I thought it was a good film. Afterwards we went and got ice cream from a shop right across from the theater.
Interestingly enough, all of our outings were in downtown Ann Arbor (sadly I didn’t visit Ashley’s), which turns out is a pretty sweet town. All in all, put together the meals and the movie, and it was a super great time. The company of Mara and Diane (not to mention my beautiful wife) brought everything up a notch (thank you Emeril for polluting that phrase).
